Outreach Education

Alongside my work in academia, I am also passionate about sharing knowledge with the public and private sectors.

From 2014 to 2019, I was the co-creator and founding Academic Director of the Indigenous Partnership Development Program, an executive-level teaching partnership between Executive Education and the Faculty of Native Studies, University of Alberta. This program helped non-Indigenous business and public sector employees to work more effectively alongside Indigenous communities with greater understanding. Through each learning experience, participants were provided with a forum for Indigenous and non-Indigenous leaders to discuss key issues and engage in dialogue about the way forward. The program strengthened coalitions within Alberta and beyond by creating a space where all parties could hear each other, and establish a shared knowledge of history and vision for the future.

I have continued this work in outreach education as an invited speaker and workshop facilitator. I have worked with several public and private organizations, including the Government of Alberta, AltaLink, Danone Canada, the Breakfast Club of Canada and the Edmonton Rotary Club, to build the capacity and awareness of leadership and staff on Indigenous histories, realities and futures.
