Shalene Wuttunee Jobin

Dr. Shalene Wuttunee Jobin is Cree from her mother (Wuttunee family) and Métis from her father (Jobin family) and is a member of Red Pheasant Cree First Nation (Treaty Six).

She is an Associate Professor and currently holds a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Governance at the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta (U of A). Dr. Jobin was founder of the Indigenous Governance and Partnership Program at the U of A and in 2023 held the VP-Academic position at First Nations University of Canada. 

Her first book, Upholding Indigenous Economic Relationships: nehiyawak narratives, was published by UBC Press in February of 2023. Jobin has published in various journals, edited collections and is involved in numerous community-centred research initiatives.
